The city was named after Benjamin P. Cheney, chairman of the Northern Pacific Railroad. The Cheney Academy, now Eastern
Washington University, was established with a $10,000 grant in 1881 from Benjamin Cheney. The city has become an attractive
bedroom community with a growing manufacturing base and beautiful homes for sale. The real estate market offers something for
